Did you know that pneumonia is the leading cause of hospitalization across the board for all age groups? It is a chronic problem found in California, where it is the eighth leading cause of death. Young children and older adults are more susceptible, but anyone at any age can develop pneumonia. Here at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital we understand just how serious this condition can be, not only during flu season, but year round. This is why Community Education at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital is gearing up to start a new class on ways to prevent, treat, and recover from pneumonia. One way you can start now to prevent pneumonia in the future is to make sure you get proper rest, with a consistent good night sleep, and get your flu and pneumococcal vaccine if ordered by your physician. Community Education offers a wide range of free classes, open to anyone in the community, in hopes to create a happier and healthier community throughout Santa Clarita. Please join us for class on the first Tuesday of each month from 1-2:30pm in Community Education, located at the Henry Mayo Fitness and Health Center off of Town Center Drive.
