Handwashing for Healthy Holidays

One of the most direct ways you can take care of yourself and your loved ones during the holidays is to make sure you hand wash properly. As you attend gatherings and prepare food to celebrate the season, make sure you are diligent with your hand hygiene.

Start by wetting your hands. Then get the soap. Lather up well, and scrub the whole hand- the backs, thumbs, nail area and inner hand. Get between all those fingers. You need to scrub for 20-30 seconds to get all those germs, so sing the happy birthday song twice. Then dry well.

When soap and water aren’t an option, hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol is a good substitute. You’ll still need to use the right amount and rub into all parts of your hands, so follow the labels instructions.

Stay healthy this holiday season by practicing good hand hygiene!

To keep your insides as clean and healthy as your outsides, try out this simple tea for a nice mid-day treat.
